Definition of ‘hygge’ is the art of creating joy in everyday life — a feeling of comfort, closeness, and ease, found in candlelight, shared meals, creative rituals, and the quiet moments that make us feel at home.
About the Easter eBook
The book gathers the Danish author’s preparations, celebrations and traditions for Easter. She shares some of her heirloom Easter recipes, how to make handmade decorations, favourite natural wreaths, and some of the traditions she was brought up with in Denmark and some new ones she have created living here in Australia.
Coloured Easter Eggs with herbs and tumeric
Place turmeric in a medium bowl. Pour boiling water over the turmeric and stir vinegar into the dyeing liquid. Leave for 30 minutes so that the colour develops. Clean the eggs thoroughly with vinegar and kitchen paper. I blew my eggs, but you can also hard boil them as you go – it’s much easier and quicker.
Sort the herbs and ferns and carefully arrange them around each egg. I wrapped the eggs in kitchen towel but if you have old tights, they can be used too. Fasten your wrapping with an elastic band on each end – this will ensure that the egg remains white or lighter where the leaves have been placed.
Bring the turmeric dye to boil and gently add the eggs. Hard boil the eggs for 10–12 minutes. After boiling, quickly cool each egg and remove the wrapping. TIP: Rub the dyed eggs with a few drops of cooking oil to give them a brighter, shinier colour.
All you need is:
- 7 eggs (hard-boiled eggs)
- 3 teaspoons ground turmeric (for yellow colouring)
- boiling water to cover the eggs
- 3 teaspoons vinegar
- paper towel for wrapping
- herbs or ferns for texture
- elastic bands

About the Author
The author of the Easter e-Book and creator of DK Design Kitchens new visual identity is the Danish Graphic Designer Kristine Lindbjerg. She has lived in Sydney, Australia, for the past 16 years with her husband and two sons.
She divides her time between working and living in the city and spending most weekends and holidays in the countryside at Turon Gates. She thrives in nature as it is where she refuels and gets inspired, but at the same time, she adores the buzz of the city and the amazing window decorations created by international brands in the city stores. She likes her life of contrasts: being in the garden in gumboots and dressing up with feathers for a party.
Being Danish, EASTER comes with a lot of beautiful traditions. It’s very important for her to pass these traditions on from her grandparents and parents to the next generation.
